Learning Passport

The learning passport will be created by applying a composition formula for gained individual credits or modules, which are modelled on the European Diploma Supplement. The collected information about open education experiences are made up of the following basic components:

The first one is the information from the OER provider, so a Higher Education Institution can feed in, for example, the workload in hours, the description of the learning outcome and learning activities.

The second component is the learner information that includes general personal information (name, date of birth, etc.), the period in which their learning took place and information about the involved activities.

The third point, the information from the assessing/certifying institution, contains assessment components and describes the quality of the earned certificate and the grading scheme (pass/fail/numerical). This procedure is less common in higher education. For example, it is recognised for driving licences by the responsible admissions office.

The learning passport will be tested in two stages with the aim that

  • the passport is easy to fill in and
  • the passport facilitates the recognition and transferability of non-traditional learning experiences.
